St. Maarten/ St. Martin is the smallest island in the world which bears the identity of both French and Dutch culture. St. Maarten/ St. Martin is divided roughly in between France and the Netherlands Antilles. There are busy beaches for adventurers and isolated beaches for the honeymooners. There are small beaches between rocky cliffs and long-beaches of white sand. In the beaches, you can enjoy plenty of activities such as horseback riding, volleyball, snorkeling, scuba diving, parasailing, surfing, jet skiing, body boarding, kite-surfing and many more.
Each side of the island has managed to maintain its distinct national culture. The French part of the island, Saint Martin, emphasizes more on comfort and elegance. The beaches are isolated and you can experience the bliss of solitude. In the French side of the island you can also enjoy the finest dining experiences in the Caribbean. The shops also feature the latest French and you can also enjoy the smell of fresh croissants and pastries mixes and the aroma of West Indian food.
On the other hand, St. Maarten, the Dutch side of the island has busy cruise port and commercial district. Tourists love to visit more often to Saint Maarten to experience the Dutch flavor. St. Maarten still has strong cords with fellow national in the other Netherlands Antilles.
Vacationers have the opportunity to experience the two different cultures in St. Martin and St. Maarten and might find the island a perfect destination for holidaying.
